We believe that educators should feel the support of a team. All SPARK Schools educators are coached and supported to improve their teaching practice and receive the resources needed to lead their students to success.
At SPARK Schools we believe in a rigorously implemented professional development programmes for all our educators. Prior to the beginning of the school year, all educators participate in two full weeks of training, focusing on setting behaviour management and classroom expectations, and a refresher week takes place at the end of the third term.
Educators also participate in weekly professional development workshops focusing on content, culture, collaboration, and community building. These elements, along with individualised coaching and observation, amount to 250 hours of professional development each school year per SPARK educator.
Our leadership development programs provide an opportunity for outstanding South African educators to pursue school leadership in our rapidly growing school network. All SPARK Schools educators, even those in their first years of teaching, may apply into the SPARK Schools Leadership Enrichment Program, which provides an introduction to school leadership that addresses mission alignment, management and leadership, data-driven decision making, instructional leadership, and more. The SPARK Schools Leadership Practicum, for SPARK teachers who have shown excellent classroom results and successfully taken on informal staff leadership, is a practical preparation program for school leadership and precedes the formal application and interview process for Principals, Assistant Principals, School Operations Managers & Office Managers for the following year.
